Great ideas, Brilliant! Love this but we do need a clear guideline as to what type of poetry that students will be submitting. There are sonnet, Haiku and rhyme scheme to consider so need to make it clear as to what can they submit. I think we English Educator should teach our students what is poetry first before we ask them to produce one

Poetry is a creative way of expressing oneself, restriction may hinder their flow of expression but it’s a competition not a poetry writing workshop so yah we should have rules and regulation.

Or Should we have more categories for students’ poodle? Like sonnet, Haiku and so on?
What do you all think?

Prizes? I would suggest certificate, it’s basically a piece of paper but they worth more to the students than any gift basket.
